Dubrovnik is a city on the Adriatic Sea in the region of Dalmatia. The city of Dubrovnik is a seaport and centre of Dubrovnik-Neretva County and it is one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the Mediterranean. The city has joined the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Dubrovnik has a really peaceful and relaxing feel to it making it one laid back city that you can visit to get away from your normal chaotic cities.

1. Roland's Column – It is located just in front of the Bell Tower, it is a slender stone flag staff of the legendary knight and it is also known as Orlando's Column and since its foundation in 1950 the Dubrovnik Summer Festival is opened by raising a flag.

2. Bell Tower – Located on top of the tower are the famous 'Zelenci' or The Green Ones, they are bronze statues which strike the gigantic bell every hour and they have been recently replaced with copies and the originals are now located in the atrium of the Sponza Palace.

3. Sponza Palace – The palace is just located at the west of the Bell Tower, it is a Gothic Renaissance palace and one of the few buildings that has maintained its form from before the catastrophic earthquake occurred in 1667. The palace hosts historic archives and a memorial room of defenders. The palace is open from 10AM to 10PM.

4. Pile Gate – The gate is located at the western end of the Placa Thoroughfare at Old town. The place can be a convenient starting place for your stroll through the Old Town. One of the first things you’ll see here is the Fort Lovrjenac, and it is one of the many sites worth seeing in the city, the place also provides a nice view of the Old Town and its wall.

5. War Photo Limited – The place is open from 9AM to 9P, the place has an exhibition centre of war and conflict photography and the exhibits change during the season. There are a lot of stunning images that was taken by some of the world’s renowned photo journalists. A nice place to visit if you’re a lover of photography.

6. Big Onofrio´s Fountain – The fountain is located in the western part of the entrance of the old town, nowadays the fountain stairs are a favorite meeting place for local youth and where both the tourists and a lot of pigeons take rest and also refresh themselves with cool water. A good place to take a stroll and just take a breather.

7. Fort Lovrijenac - The fort rises above 37 m high rock and it changed roles in the course of history. The fort’s main purpose was for defense of the city and the main idea was to protect the freedom of Dubrovnik. A must see.

8. Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary – This church is an impressive building. The original church was built with the money that was donated by Richard the Lionhearted who survived a shipwreck on his way back home from the Third Crusade. Now the current cathedral dates from the 18th Century. A very beautiful church and a must see.

9. Dominican Monastery – The monastery is open from 9AM to 6PM. The place is an exceptionally valuable historic complex which, besides its religious purpose also represents the important artistic treasury of the ancient Dubrovnik.

10. Banje Beach – The beach is located just near the Old Town. The place is a well located pebble beach and there are some parts with an entrance fee, but also there is a public part which is always livelier and more relaxed. The beach is a must go to if you want a great way to beat the heat in the middle of the town. There is also an amazing view to city wall.
